PhD Program

The Biochemistry Department awards a doctoral degree in biochemistry through academic courses and thesis. The department offers a set of compulsory and elective courses. Every candidate for a doctoral degree in biochemistry must successfully pass 42 units, including compulsory and elective courses, and thesis. All PhD candidates must pass written, and oral comprehensive examinations with a score of not less than 70% for each examination category. Successful students can start their scientific research project under the supervision of a faculty member in the department according to specific regulations determined by the College Vice Deanship for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research and in coordination with the Department's Graduate Studies Committee.
To obtain a PhD in Biochemistry, the student must complete no less than (42) accredited academic units, including the PhD thesis, distributed as follows:
accredited units for compulsory course
12
units of accredited elective courses
10
credit hours for PhD thesis
20
